Before your appointment:
- Recommend to avoid alcohol 24 hours prior
- Arrive with clean lips — no makeup or lip balm
- Have a light meal before treatment

- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you are sick
- If ou have active cold sore (herpes hsv) on the lips
What to expect:
- 30-45 minute topical numbing
- 20 min injections
- Mild swelling right after
- Swelling increases on the next day, especially in the morning. Waking up with lots of swelling in the lips on the next day is normal and expected.
- Peak swelling usually occurs on days 2
- Bruises can show up on the day 2 as well. Bruising is normal and will disappear in about a week.
- Swelling is going down slowly day by day
- Final results settle within 10–14 days
Aftercare
- Dr will apply antibiotic ointment immediately after injections
- Apply lip balm often to reduce dryness
- Ice pack is given to apply to your lips to reduce bruising and swelling
- If you have previously developed cold sores on your lips (HSV) mention to your injector and she will prescribe Valtrex to you to prevent an outbreak.
- Avoid intense workouts for 48 hours not to increase swelling
- No hot yoga or hot Pilates or sauna for the first 48-72h
- Limit alcohol intake on the day of your procedure (alcohol increases swelling and bruising)
- Do not massage your lips
- Please avoid excessive pressure or oral activity involving the lips for 72 hours after treatment to minimize swelling and filler migration
